Keep 5 in Kansas

Keep Five in KansasThink about what matters to you.

The church where you worship.  The schools your children attend.  The park where your grandchildren love to play.  A local charity you care deeply about.

How can you ensure that the things that make your community unique continue, long after you’re gone?

Right now, we have an opportunity to create a better future for Ottawa County.  By keeping 5% of our county’s wealth through the Ottawa County Community Foundation, we can improve our quality of life and strengthen the communities we call home.

Discover the potential.

The Keep 5 in Kansas campaign is designed to share the message to all Kansans of the importance of leaving a legacy for our hometowns and communities through the power of endowment.

Our state is currently experiencing an unprecedented transfer of wealth, as estates change hand from one generation to the next.  By 2020, the transfer of wealth in Kansas is estimated to be $79 billion, and will increase to $598 billion by 2064.  In Ottawa County, $160.3 million will transfer from one generation to the next by 2020.

If we “Keep 5 in Kansas,”  by capturing just 5% of this wealth transfer in our county, $8 million could be preserved in a community foundation endowment creating over $400,000 in annual grants to benefit Ottawa County.  Just imagine the possibilities for your community!

March is Match Month!

Ottawa County could earn an additional $50,000 for charitable grants in the community through a county-wide gift matching campaign. In March, the Dane G. That means, $10 turns into $25, $500 turns into $1,250 and $1,000 turns into $2,500. If the $50,000 goal is met this year, the Ottawa County community will gain a total of $125,000!
