Ottawa County Community Foundation awards over $79,000 in fall grants

MINNEAPOLIS, Kan.— During its fall grant cycle, the Ottawa County Community Foundation awarded over $79,000 to six projects throughout Ottawa County. The following organizations received funding:

• City of Delphos, $20,000 to purchase air conditioners and materials for the Delphos City Auditorium.
• Minneapolis Recreation Commission, $20,000 for softball field improvements.
• City of Bennington, $20,000 for the installation of new aluminum bleachers and concrete pads for the Bennington Sports Complex.
• City of Minneapolis/Minneapolis Golf Course, $11,915 for labor and equipment to install 50 new sprinkler heads.
• Central Kansas Mental Health Center, $4,435 for scholarships to participants enrolled in the Mental Health First Aid/Youth Mental Health program.
• USD 239, $3,000 to purchase vape detectors to put in each of the high school restrooms and locker rooms.


This round of grants was made possible by four funds at the community foundation: the Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund and the Ottawa County Impact Fund, which both focus on improving quality of life throughout the county, and the Kansas Health Foundation Fund and Ottawa County Public Health Fund, which both support public health in Ottawa County.
