Ottawa County Community Foundation awards over $81,000

MINNEAPOLIS, Kan.— The Ottawa County Community Foundation recently awarded over $81,000 in spring grants to 10 charitable projects across the county. Grants were funded through the foundation’s Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund, Kansas Health Foundation Fund, Ottawa County Public Health Fund, Ottawa County Impact Fund, Bennington Community Fund, and the Tescott Community Fund.

The following organizations received grants:

  • Ottawa County, $20,000 for new bathroom facilities at the Minneapolis fairgrounds and athletics fields.
  • City of Bennington, $18,300 to repair and update Bennington Sports Complex ball fields.
  • City of Tescott, $10,000 to purchase a new excavator for clean-up projects and maintenance.
  • City of Minneapolis/Minneapolis Golf Course, $10,000 to continue sprinkler head replacement.
  • Ottawa County Health Center, $5,302 for a healthy food steamer.
  • USD 239, $5,000 for new stage curtains at Minneapolis Grade School.
  • Fountain Township/Ada, $4,246 for new playground equipment at Luke Park.
  • USD 239, $3,820 for trees and landscaping around the Minneapolis Jr. Sr. High School Football Stadium.
  • USD 240, $3,300 for upgrades to the Bennington Sports Complex.
  • Minneapolis Rec Commission, $1,250 for summer youth camps.

Community foundation grants are also supported by contributions from the John and Olive L. Cornellisson Designated Fund.

Applications to the community foundation’s next grant cycle will open on August 1, 2019, with applications due on October 1. for more information.
