Ottawa County Community Foundation awards over $55,000 in spring grants

MINNEAPOLIS, Kan.— During its spring grant cycle, the Ottawa County Community Foundation awarded over $55,000 to nine projects throughout Ottawa County. The following organizations received funding:

  • Ottawa County Fire District 4, $15,440 to purchase an ambulance stair chair, and AED’s for four fire trucks.
  • Markley Grove Park Friends Inc., $11,159 for a pool mural and benches.
  • Love In the Name of Christ, $9,000 to provide meals to children in Ottawa County for the summer.
  • City of Minneapolis/Minneapolis Golf Course, $8,000 to complete the sprinkler project.
  • Ottawa County, $4,920 to purchase reusable masks for first responders.
  • Ottawa County RFD #2, $2,997 for fire station updates.
  • USD 240 Twin Valley, $1,332 to purchase a tower garden for Bennington Grade School.
  • Fountain Township on behalf of Ada, $1,307 to purchase mulch for the playground.
  • USD 240 Twin Valley, $1,232 to support the First Responder’s Day appreciation project.

This round of grants was made possible by three funds at the community foundation: the Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund, which focuses on improving quality of life throughout the county, the Bennington Community Fund, which supports the present and future needs of Bennington, and the Ottawa County Public Health Fund, which supports public health in Ottawa County.
