Generosity Shines Bright at Match Month Kickoff

Over $60,000 Raised in One Night to Support Ottawa County Non-Profits

The Ottawa County Community Foundation’s Match Month Kickoff Event on April 5th was a powerful display of community spirit and generosity. Held at The Farm and Odd Fellows in Minneapolis, the event brought together local donors, volunteers, and supporters who share a common goal: to make a lasting difference in Ottawa County.

Attendees gathered to enjoy fellowship, learn more about the Foundation’s mission, and deliver their donation checks—which will be matched 3-to-1 thanks to the incredible support from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation and the Patterson Family Foundation.

Throughout the evening, people participated in an online auction, bid on unique items, and collected fun grab bags. More than 50 donations were made during the event, resulting in over $60,000 raised in a single night. With matching dollars included, that impact grows to over $230,000—all of which will directly benefit local non-profits and the communities they serve.

“We are so grateful to everyone who showed up, gave generously, and continues to believe in the power of small-town philanthropy,” said Meagan Nuessen, Director of the Ottawa County Community Foundation. “It’s incredible to see how, when we come together, our impact multiplies.”

The giving doesn’t stop here. The Foundation’s Match Month campaign continues through April 30th, and every donation made during this time will be matched, increasing the impact.
